HineHau Breath Immersion Retreat: Level One

Level one of the HineHau experience, this is a wāhine-centric retreat woven with care, reverence, and spiritual richness. 

Join us for this retreat as a standalone journey of transformation, or let it be the first step into the full Hine Hau Practitioner Training pathway.

What’s Included in HineHau Level One Retreat:

• 4 Transformational Days of deep nourishment, healing, and connection 
• Daily retreat gatherings February 2-5th, 2026 from 9am–6pm at Lake Okataina Lodge.
• Held in the rōhe of Rotorua, a place of ancient healing and powerful wairua, surrounded by native bush, geothermal energy, and the healing presence of wai
• Sacred visit to Wai Ariki Hot Springs & Spa, where you will journey through their  2-hour Restorative Journey  a 7-step therapeutic bathing ritual grounded in Ngāti Whakaue knowledge and tradition. 
• 5 Full Breathwork Journeys, each one a guided ceremony to support emotional release, energetic clearing, spiritual remembrance and deep nervous system regulation.
• Mātauranga Māori of Te Hā — receive sacred teachings and ancient wisdom on the breath, shared through story, ceremony and lived experience.
• Guided transmissions, meditations and daily embodiment practices, both a-wairua (spiritual) and a-tinana (physical), to anchor you back into the rhythms of your own body and the wisdom of the unseen.
• Delicious, nourishing lunches and afternoon tea each day
• Sacred sisterhood and safe space, where you will be seen, held, and honoured exactly as you are.

HineHau Breath Practitioners Training: Level One & Two

Become a licensed and certified HineHau Breathwork Practitioner

This is the path of the Kaiārahi, guide and leader, holding space and leading others with depth, spiritual integrity and skill. 

Learn how to guide private and group Breathwork Journeys using the HineHau BreathWav™ method, a trauma-informed, spiritually anchored modality steeped in indigenous wisdom and safe practice. 

Whether you're a hauora professional, coach, therapist, healer, teacher  or just beginning your path here, this training will deepen your confidence, add skills to you kete, and take you on a deep personal journey of remembrance.

This training is for wāhine, Māori and non-Māori who honour and respect a Te Ao Māori worldview, and who feel called to offer breathwork as a rongoā for our people and our whenua.

You will be guided by Shannon Rose (Ngāti Porou ki Harataunga, Ngāti Whakaue, Tūhourangi, Ngāti Pikiao)  Founder of HineHau and one of the early pioneers of breathwork in Aotearoa, alongside her team of trained Kaiārahi and facilitators.

What’s Included in HineHau Level One & Two:

• Certification as a HineHau BreathWav™ Practitioner, internationally recognised through IPHM (International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine)
• A total of 200 hours of training across both Level One and Level Two
• Everything in Level One including the 4 Day HineHau Breath Immersion Retreat at Lake Okataina, February 2026
• 1 break day between the retreat and training to rest, integrate, and prepare for leadership wānanga
• Additional leadership training over 2 days at Lake Okataina (Level Two Only) with lunch and afternoon tea daily
• 4 Months of guided online study, integration and breath journeys including live and recorded calls.
• Training in five signature breath templates to guide 1:1 sessions, group breathwork journeys, and shorter breath-based techniques: BreathWav™ DownRegulate, UpRegulate, CoRegulate, and Ngā Hau e Whā
• Crafting and delivering ceremonial breath journeys using sound, music, playlisting and energetics

• Peer facilitation, co-facilitation, and practicum experience 
• Practicum experience will be held in June 2026, at the end of your four month training, in Rotorua over 3 days. Here you will Facilitate a BreathWav workshop and be assessed for certification. 
• Graduation ceremony at Wai Ariki special star light pool

Optional Extra: HineHau Business Accelerator

Step confidently into your role as a HineHau Practitioner and lay the foundations for a thriving, sustainable breathwork business.

• This 3-month accelerator runs alongside your 4-month certification journey – weaving in practical business strategy with the values of integrity, purpose, and service that are at the heart of HineHau.
• Across six powerful, two-hour sessions (held fortnightly), you’ll be guided to create a business model that is not only profitable but deeply aligned with who you are and the communities you serve.
• With over 8 years in business, and a background in corporate branding and marketing, Shannon brings you the tools, insights, and lived experience to help you move from practitioner to entrepreneur, without losing your essence along the way.
• Whether you’re integrating breathwork into your existing mahi, or stepping boldly into a new career as a practitioner, this accelerator will ensure you have the clarity, structure, and confidence to launch your practice with impact. 

Our Venue Partners for 2026

Lake Okataina Lodge  ~ Ngāti Tarāwhai

Lake Okataina Lodge is just 30 minutes outside of Rotorua central and is nestled in the heart of the forest and overlooking Lake Ōkataina.

This location will be home to our HineHau Level One & Two Retreat and Training.

Owned by Ngāti Tarāwhai, we invite you to stay onsite at Lake Okataina Lodge for the full immersion experience.

While accommodation is not included in your retreat cost, we have reserved a small number of Wilderness Family and Wilderness Studio units onsite exclusively for HineHau participants.

Each unit includes a kitchen, allowing you to prepare your own breakfasts and dinners during the retreat. 

Price for 6 Nights:

• Wilderness Studio with kitchen – exclusive to you. Six nights for only $790. 
• Wilderness Family Unit with kitchen – Share with three others (Two bedrooms) Six nights for only $371 per person.
• Wilderness Studio with kitchen – Share with one other. Six nights for only $395 per person.

Rooms are limited, so we encourage you to apply early to avoid missing out. Once accepted we will together allocate you a room. There are options to have you own room at an additional cost. 

Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa ~ Ngati Whakaue

As part of your Hine Hau journey, we’ll also spend dedicated time at Wai Ariki, a world-class wellness destination owned and operated by Ngāti Whakaue.

For Level One, we will immerse ourselves in their 2-hour restorative journey, a unique, sensory experience designed to harmonise hinengaro (mind), tinana (body), and wairua (spirit). This powerful integration will help you ground, release, and embody the transformations sparked through our breathwork practices.

For Level Two, we return to Wai Ariki for an exclusive Starlight Experience, a sacred evening designed to expand your capacity for presence, intuition, and leadership under the night sky.
